HOLLA ON THE GO: Today I went to the bank…

Today I went to the bank to make a deposit for my job, and as I was leaving a man who was waiting in line yelled across the bank, “have a nice day, the squats are working!” I turned around and my immediate murmured response was “thank you”…. I literally don’t know why I even said that, I think I heard the “have a nice day” part and the second part didn’t even register in my brain until I was walking out to my car. I was mortified. I sat in my car with my hand over my mouth thinking “did that really just happen?” I felt objectified, and just kinda gross and shameful. I then started to question if my jeans were too tight, and if what I was wearing made him say that (even though I was wearing blue jeans, tennis shoes and a loose fitted shirt). I’m 25 years old, and I’ve never been harassed by a stranger like that. As I’ve Googled today, I’m learning that this is a common experience for so many women, at really young ages, some as young as 10. I can’t even imagine. Anyway, my prayer is that women everywhere would know that Jesus loves them, and that they are created in God’s image, and that harassment like this grieves God’s heart, too. I pray that women would know their worth has been given to them by God, and that no person, no comment, no harassment can take that away. You are beautiful and strong. I am choosing to move on, forgive, and trust that God sees all and knows all. Love you all.
