Public Harassment: I had a wonderful day with my friends…
I had a wonderful day with my friends at the Renaissance Fair. But, when we stopped at a gas station in the middle of nowhere, my day was ruined. I went by myself to use the bathroom and a man who was outside smoking whistled at me and made several disgusting comments about me. I quickly walked inside and was scared to leave. I also regretted that I didn’t say anything to him, but I’m only 19 and am antisocial.
I tried to call my boyfriend but he didn’t know what the text “I was catcalled” meant and basically ignored me. The man entered the store and I was really scared, so I waited for him to get in the check out line before I left. I was too ashamed to tell my friend about it, but through online resources I now realize I need to talk about it. I shouldn’t feel guilty or regret my actions because I am now safe. Thank you for your time.
