PUBLIC HARASSMENT: MY FRIENDS AND I…

My friends and I went to a comedy show one night. The comedian was telling extremely sexist ‘jokes’, which my friends and I did not find funny. We happened to be sitting in the front row, so the comedian could see that we weren’t laughing, and actually looked very unimpressed. He then started calling us out and harassing us, making rude comments about the kind of women ‘we must be’. It got so uncomfortable, and I remember looking around at the rest of the audience, who continued to laugh along, wondering ‘how can you find this funny and encourage him?’. I knew we had to take a stand against his misogyny, so we three stood up and walked out mid show. The comedian made rude comments as we did, and I felt embarrassed to be called out like that, but also proud for walking out and saying we’d had enough of that BS.
