PUBLIC HARASSMENT: I’M AN ASIAN AMERICAN…

I’m an Asian American woman who grew up in the USA and was harassed. As I was walking, a guy comes near me and yells “KONICHIWAAA!” in a mocking, threatening tone. He was several feet away but was inching towards me. I felt threatened and stepped back – no one was around since it was early, so I was fearful of my safety. My immediate instinct was he was going to hurt me, if I said anything. So I stepped back and let him pass and walk before I got anywhere. This is a regular occurrence for people of all Asian descent, especially female. I shouldn’t have to feel threatened
