Street Harassment: I was walking on…

I was walking on a busy street in the small rural town where I live. A car passed by me, stopped, turned around in the parking lot, and came back so someone in the car could whistle loudly at me. I felt annoyed, and I was anxious about what I would do if they came back, because I was turning onto a less busy side street. I want people to know that even just being whistled at like that doesn’t make women feel complimented or desired. It irritates us and makes us anxious. I was just trying to relax and enjoy my Sunday evening, and I had to think about this for the rest of the walk, looking around and hoping we wouldn’t cross paths again.
