From Hollaback! HQ
Dear Friday, we are overjoyed to see you and reuniting feels…oh…sooo…good. We are sorry that we were with Monday-Thursday, but believe us, when we say, “You were always on our mind.” Speaking of what’s on our mind, the latest edition of “Weekly In Our Shoes”, is at the forefront. *Scrolls to updates*
How did you raise awareness for Anti-Street Harassment Week? Down at HQ, we’ve had a tremendous demand for the “Bystander Intervention to Stop Anti-Asian/American and Xenophobic Harassment Training” sessions and are truly grateful for such a massive turn-out. And this is just the beginning because we have upcoming scheduled dates on this type of training. For more details on registering in advance, click here. P.S. IT IS FREE!
Around The World
Down in Jakarta, Hollaback! Jakarta was invited to The Point, an online talk show with Tehmina Kaoosji. This discussion dealt with the many issues of domestic violence during the COVID-19 pandemic. In case you’ve missed it, you can watch it here.
Any thoughts? Feel free to shoot Hollaback! Jakarta a message on IG @hollaback_jkt or FB @HollabackJakarta
Also, the Jakarta team had the opportunity to delve in deeper by addressing the increased number of domestic violence cases, and forms of digital violence on the “Feminist Assessment of the Asean Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic” platform during the 30 days of the circuit break. The data collected showed that there were approximately 97 cases in ONLY one month which is in fact 3 times higher than the usual statistical reports. This is quite alarming and as a community, we need to uplift each other, especially during this time. To access the recorded video, for those of us who missed it, feel free to click here. Change begins when we enter the conversation. #BuildSaferSpacers #WeGotYourBack
Oh wait, the fight is not over. The Jakarta team in partnership with the Jakarta Feminist Association need your help! With the assistance from you, they would be able to significantly reduce the number of cases of women-in-need during the COVID-19 pandemic. The team would greatly appreciate any donation you can make. Should you decide to make a donation, refer to the infographics for more information.
“Hollaback! Detroit is working hard to bring you an engaging week of online events. We’re extremely troubled by different behaviors that have come out of the panic due to the coronavirus and stay at home orders. Join us and #stopstreetharassment for this International Anti-Street Harassment Week to meet us on the (digital) streets!”
This was a great International Anti-Street Harassment Week!
Catch you in our next issue of A Week In Our Shoes!
