A natural disaster as cataclysmic and merciless as Hurricane Dorian, has a huge effect on all folks, both far and near. Hurricane Dorian wreaked havoc through The Bahamas. It’s difficult to overstate the massive damage, physical and emotional, caused to these islands and its people. Thousands missing, reported deaths, destruction of homes, just to name a few.
Let’s join hands in supporting the Bahamian folks. Today, it’s them, tomorrow it could be us. “No man is an island” – John Donne. So let us join hands, as together we could make a difference. Equality Bahamas and Lend a Hand Bahamas are collecting donations at the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas on weekdays from 9am to 6pm and weekends from 10am to 5pm. There is need for:
– Toiletries (soap, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, lotion)
– Baby formula/food
– Diapers (baby and adult)
– Bath towels
– Nonperishable food
– Can openers
– School supplies (composition books, pens, pencils, backpacks)
– Snacks (for children to take to school)
Shout Out to @Hollaback!Jakarta, for their work at The British Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, where they had the opportunity to train their employees. The embassy was thrilled with the world-class training they received. Each individual was challenged to go beyond being bystanders of sexual harassment “whether it is verbal, physical, mental, digital or economic”– British Embassy Jakarta. Impressive doesn’t even begin to cover it. Congratulations @Hollaback!Jakarta , for all the important work you do!
Catch you in our next issue of A Week In Our Shoes!
